The PeopleMeters™ we created in the last century are still a massively important part of audience measurement worldwide.

However, the large number of new digital platforms and channels presents fresh audience measurement challenges in terms of the granularity of data required and the costs of measuring the large sample sizes required to understand a fragmented market.

Our RapidView technology actually acquires data directly from digital set top boxes (STBs) via the return path to gather essential, and highly complex audience data.

This enables not just effective measurement and reporting of many more channels, it also allows data to be captured that records timeshift viewing, red button and EPG usage and even Video on Demand services. Kantar Media Audiences has been the acknowledged thought leader in this area and operates commercial RPD services in the UK, USA, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, with Rapid View processing data from many millions of Set Top boxes each day.
